Evidence before prediction

A funding signal should always show its workings.

Our method separates published award facts from FundedSpend interpretations, without presenting rule outputs as probabilities, budgets or purchasing timetables.

The evidence levels

Confirmed procurement

A separate official supplier brief, procurement notice or request for quotation is linked. A Heritage Fund award record alone can never produce this label.

Source-mentioned activity

The published project description directly mentions relevant delivery activity. It does not establish a line-item supplier budget or mean bidding is open.

Possible supplier category

The description contains relevant project language, so a supplier category may be useful to monitor. It does not establish that a purchase will occur.

Not shown

We suppress categories when the evidence is too weak, the source licence is unclear or the record creates a material privacy risk.

How a signal is produced

  1. A source must pass our licence, attribution, collection-method and personal-data review.
  2. The original record is retrieved without bypassing access controls.
  3. Organisation, funding, location and project facts are normalised.
  4. Category-specific rules look for relevant language in the title or supporting sentence.
  5. Directly mentioned activity is separated from a contextual possible supplier category.
  6. The source, evidence excerpt and rule version remain attached to the result.
Important:

A grant award is not a tender, a confirmed supplier budget or evidence that buying is open. Verify the organisation's current procurement route before acting.

Award value and timing

The published award amount is a source fact, not an estimate of supplier spend. We do not derive addressable-spend percentages or purchasing windows from it. Actual project or procurement dates are shown only when an approved source supplies them.

Provenance, corrections and auditability

Each project names the publisher, exact dataset, licence, attribution and source URL supplied in the dataset. The current Heritage file supplies the publisher homepage rather than a unique record-level page, so FundedSpend does not invent a deep link. Organisations can submit a correction request for review. Material changes retain an audit record and do not silently convert a possible supplier category into confirmed procurement.
