100 Objects for 100 Years

Our project seeks to inspire and engage young people in Woodcraft Folk’s heritage and archive. Supported by a youth worker and professional archivists, the group of young people will learn about the role of an archivist, how to access and interpret archive material. Using items from the archive, they will create an exhibition with the Museum of Youth Culture and interpretation material sharing the contributions of Woodcraft Folk’s members to social history events between 1925-2011. Young people have already identified an interest in: -Action by Woodcraft Folk members to support those fleeing war and conflict 1930-1950s -Woodcraft Folk’s contribution to the peace movement and relationship with conscientious objectors -Young people’s experiences of camp, co-operation, campaigns and changing styles within the organisation’s 100 year history (badges, uniform, songs, activities) Our project seeks to demonstrate the power and impact of youth grassroots movements, hoping to inspire future generations of activists and archivists.
