1996 -2056: Celebrating the last 30 years and Futureproofing the next 30 years

This project is about protecting the past, celebrating the present, and preparing Gorton Monastery to serve its community for the next 30 years and beyond. Marking the 30th anniversary of the Monastery Trust, we’ll deliver a year-long programme of events, storytelling, music, and community celebration. Our goal is to engage new and existing audiences with the story of how this once-derelict site became a modern-day sanctuary — and what it can offer in the future. We aim to restore and replace an identical replica historic organ, deepen our work around music and wellbeing, and create new interpretation rooted in lived experience. Crucially, we will replace the failing boiler system, protecting the Grade II* listed building and the vital community programmes it enables. Together, these strands form one cohesive vision: to secure our future, celebrate our journey, and ensure the Monastery continues to inspire, include and heal — one and all.
