40 Years of Protection and Discovery at the Wemyss Caves

In 2026 Save Wemyss Ancient Caves Society (SWACS) celebrates 40 years of community action and stewardship at the Wemyss Caves. Our volunteer committee is planning a year-long series of anniversary events including a family festival, an archaeology week, a public conference, and a special exhibition and activities in our museum and garden. These events will raise the profile of the work of SWACS and the Wemyss Caves in the local and wider communities, improve accessibility to our museum and garden and, crucially, attract new volunteers. The legacy of our project will be a broader volunteer base and a museum that is a hub for our activities and for visitors. SWACS will be more resilient as an organisation and the Wemyss Caves will be better protected for future generations.
