Historic Buildings
The Ridge regenerates ruinous historic sites as vehicles for personal regeneration for marginalised community members, primarily through traditional skills training and community engagement programmes. Our burgh townscape contains many hidden gems which we are opening up for the first time, making readily accessible the heritage these sites embody. 86-88 High Street contains nationally-significant historical elements, which we will save from permanent loss, and make permanently accessible including in-person and online. Building on Black Bull Close experience, the project will conserve historic fabric while restoring life/purpose to a derelict eyesore site, creating homes and a shop, restoring vitality to the high street. Phase 1 will secure, strip out and make wind/watertight the front section of the 3-Phase project, clarifying approach and costs of the subsequent reinstatement process, and beginning community engagement which ties into/brings together our previous projects. We will restore the shop to use, laying in services for subsequent phases
