Museums And Archives
The Story Museum enriches lives through stories and storytelling. Stories across time and place; passed down through generations, shared orally, then in print and now on screen. Over 20 years (and with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund), we have collected 1001 of them. Each is there to be discovered and celebrated them in our wonderful space that lives and breathes literary heritage. Our museum’s failed roof has put our entire collection, exhibitions and outreach programme at risk. Water is leaking in as energy leaks out. Short-term repairs are costly, impacting our ability to plan with confidence. We seek to repair the roof to create an energy efficient building, a financially resilient organisation and a protected collection. Under it, we will host events, school visits and create opportunities for revenue, ensuring the rich heritage of storytelling continues to delight future generations.
