A permanent heritage exhibition for Abersoch and the parish of Llanengan, supported by activities

Menter Rabar is a community interest company, based in the beautiful village of Abersoch, on the south shores of the Llyn Peninsula. We were established in February 2023 to save and renovate the village’s old school into a heritage exhibition, café, community garden, and enterprise centre. Rabar is an abbreviation that local people use for Abersoch. Menter means ‘venture’. The local heritage, Welsh language and culture are at the heart of our project. Our exhibition will draw on the Llanengan Parish Heritage Group’s rich archive of letters, photographs, artefacts, and documents to create a lively celebration of the area’s people, stories and culture. Menter Rabar will train and support volunteers to digitize and catalogue the archive, creating an invaluable heritage legacy for the future. The exhibition and archive will be embedded into the wider community through a package of activities, with the entire project managed by a freelance Heritage Officer.
