We envision a sustainable, resilient, accessible future for Scotland’s zine heritage. This project will enable Glasgow Zine Library to save our zine collection and make it more accessible for educators and disabled audiences. We will do this by: Preserving the Past - the Collection: using capital works to increase collection storage capacity, preservation, and accessibility, saving our at-risk collection, while developing a 5-Year Collection Strategy to plan for the future and legacy of the collection. Current Digital Accessibility: volunteers developing visual and audio description of zines in our collection, increasing accessibility for our 52% disabled beneficiaries. Commissioning 2 disabled makers to create zines for the collection to reflect this growing disabled audience. Future Collection Access Beyond Glasgow: piloting a zine lending model (we are currently a reference library) for educators and organisations, responding to demand from across Scotland. Making acquisitions to address gaps in the collection identified during the pilot.
