A Tile in Time
The state of the church roof was raised in our last quinquennial review (November 2023). We are replacing the tiles on all roofs - main roof, tower and porch. This includes: - scaffolding all four sides of the church. - striping roof covering, spraying supporting timbers and covering with a bat friendly membrane. - re-tiling with original Stafford Blue tiles, making good any waste. - replace all leadwork and guttering. - re-pointing coping stones. A waterproof building will protect the heritage of the church, enable a safe environment for worship and for visitors to enjoy the historic features of the church. Following repairs we will be able to open up a sectioned off area of the church yard, allowing it to be actively re-wilded for nature and accessible for those who wish to view the old grave stones for family history purposes.
