Acquisition of a special piece by renowned French designer Stéphane Boudin

The Leeds Castle Foundation would like to acquire an item that was part of Lady Baillie’s original collection, a Secretaire À Abattant designed by Stéphane Boudin and painted in Trompe L’Oeil by Roger Natter, circa 1930. The item is a key example of the early work of Stéphane Boudin, design director at Maison Jansen and one of the most celebrated designers of the 20th century. We would like to acquire this stunning piece and for the first time in its history, put it on public display alongside its sister pieces, two commodes at Leeds Castle, home of Lady Baillie’s eclectic collection. Allowing more people to see and experience the artistic work of Stéphane Boudin and Roger Natter.
