Historic Buildings

All Saints Church Building, Community Garden and Oral History Project

Our Church is in the heart of the Northgate Parish, Canterbury, Kent. From 1840-1970 the building, at the centre of our project, was used as a Garrison Church for the Royal East Kent Regiment (commonly referred to as “The Buffs”), one of the oldest infantry regiments of the British Army. In 1976 the garrison church became All Saints- a community church here to serve local community and offer a space for faith, art and social gatherings which we maintain to this day. We are applying for NL Heritage funding to document and commemorate garrison history, preserve the building, support heritage accessibility, work towards lowering our carbon footprint and provide a green space for residents. The project aims to recognise, improve and maintain our heritage and make a lasting impact on the understanding of environmental sustainability for our community.
