Historic Buildings
The distinctive tower and spire of All Saints Church Mackworth, a Grade1 listed building, is the only part of the church that survived virtually intact after a devastating arson attack in 2020. In poor condition, it needs urgent repair and conservation for it to become an integral part of the rebuilt church. All Saints, as the only public building available to a rapidly growing population, is the natural place to create community and inclusion. Here we shall celebrate Mackworth’s past and heritage and turn memories of recent trauma into new stories for the future. While insurance is rebuilding the rest of the church, that alone cannot recover lost historic monuments and artefacts that were precious to the people of Mackworth. Once renovated, the distinctive Tower will become a fitting focus for this story of history, heritage and survival.
