All Saints’ Church, Morborne: from fragile to forever

The project would protect All Saints’ Church, Morborne, from further damage, putting it firmly on the path to complete restoration and removal from the Heritage at Risk Register. The roof of the Grade 1-listed building has been deteriorating steadily to the point that it is no longer safe to leave unlocked for public access or to host community events. Whilst regular services continue, subject to ongoing risk assessments, the building is at risk of becoming completely unusable. Once a building falls out of use, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain and motivate the community to restore it. Action is needed now. We aim not only to secure All Saints’ future as the parish church but also to make its history, including its connections to Jamestown in the USA, accessible to everyone. These exciting plans begin with the urgent task of repairing the roof.
