Historic Buildings
This project celebrates the heritage of ARK - the former Margate synagogue – the culture it represents, and the cultures represented in our local community through: - restoring some of the building’s most iconic features, including the main hall - delivering Jewish heritage-focused educational initiatives - programming events celebrating diverse cultures including secular Jewish culture - positioning the heritage of our building within the wider context of the area’s rich Jewish history - developing a website that enables everyone to engage with ARK’s journey This work will be underpinned by increasing our organisational resilience through developing our business plan and creating a fundraising strategy so that we are better placed to fulfil this agenda. The project’s legacy will be bringing the community together through: - a better understanding of Cliftonville’s diverse history - increased awareness of the importance of heritage - pride in the different cultures represented in our area
