Art UK’s “Art4Everyone” initiative will transform our charity’s ability to manage millions of images of the UK’s national collection of art, share them with global audiences, and unlock their potential for creative reuse by anyone, anywhere through open licensing. It will deliver in public collections a major shift in practice towards open access to Public Domain artwork images they hold. It will highlight to a broad public audience the manifold rich, creative and educational opportunities that come with open access. And it will encourage rewarding and enriching community engagement throughout the three-year programme. With 3,500 art collections brought together on our platform, and one million artworks online by the year end, Art UK is well positioned to deliver this initiative. The result will supercharge the UK public’s agency over the extraordinary art collection it owns and ensure more of this collection is seen, visited, shared, experienced and valued.
