Historic Buildings

Ashbourne St.Oswalds: secured in the past.Securing its future.

St Oswald's Church is a living community building which exists primarily to serve its locality through outreach via its extensive community provision in both its hall and its main church buildings. In addition, St Oswald’s provides a focus for major life milestones, including births, marriages and funerals, and offers a welcome to thousands of visitors to Ashbourne each year, who wish to appreciate its architecture, beauty and history. Our organisation wishes to preserve and enhance the heritage within this building by preventing further water ingress through two of its roof structures, and add solar panels onto the repaired roof to reduce our carbon footprint and protect the environment. This work, along with two other ongoing fabric-related projects, strengthens this 1241 landmark building’s sustainability, for the next 100 years , supports its path to net zero carbon by 2030 and helps build our organisations sustainability and accessibility
