Historic Buildings

Awakening Edinburgh’s Architectural Masterpiece – A new Cultural and Environmental Destination.

RHSPT will save the former Royal High School, one of Scotland’s most important but vulnerable historic buildings. Category A listed and situated within the Edinburgh World Heritage Site, it is regarded as the masterpiece of Thomas Hamilton one of Scotland’s foremost neoclassical / Greek revival architects. This project will restore the Royal High School to its former glory and its rightful place at the centre of Edinburgh’s cultural life. The redevelopment will create three performance spaces, rehearsal rooms and a recording studio, interpretation and learning space while a new café and public landscaped gardens with stunning views across the city will provide an unparalleled heritage experience. The project will open the building up to engage local residents and visitors to the city, we anticipate circa 290,000 visitors per year. It will activate local engagement with heritage and culture, making it accessible and enjoyable, contributing to enriching people’s lives.
