Our project aims to use Cambridge University Library’s extensive collections to explore and amplify the voices of Black British communities from 1900 to the present. By connecting historical records with contemporary experiences, we aim to empower these communities to tell their stories, fostering a nuanced understanding of Black British identities. This co-curated programme, developed in collaboration with community partners and guided by Dr. Kenny Monrose, will ensure that this vital history is better represented and understood. The project’s legacy will be a more inclusive and systematic approach to collecting and interpreting Black British history, bringing it from the margins to the forefront of national memory.
