We would like to record Birmingham people's experiences of libraries in living memory over the past 70 years. We want to document the importance of books to people and the free accessible space to be able to read, borrow and share them which a public library offers. We want to explore creatively people's interactions with books and libraries through their own lived experience and to imagine what is lost when that experience no longer exists in our city, our country and our world. We want to capture people's treasured experiences of a first book, an initial library experience, a family tradition and cultural heritage of having access to information and stories and this shared experience from being a child to an elderly person and what it has meant to all these people over generations in our City.
