Brontë Birthplace 2025 Bradford Year of Culture

We acquired the Brontë Birthplace in March 2024, a missing piece in the Brontë sisters’ story. We are responding to community feedback to furnish the house in the style of the Brontë period. Feedback also encourages us in our objectives of engaging a diverse range of Bradford District residents in heritage, cultural and arts activities and working with schools to use the Brontë sisters as role models for ambition and achievement, however great the barriers. Our objective is to open in time for Bradford 2025 City of Culture with an education and community programme that is underpinned by a robust social enterprise to fund our community work. Events linked to the history of the Brontë family will be open to delegates from diverse community associations in the District. By encouraging participation in heritage and the arts we will instil greater pride in place and self-confidence and ambition in our participants.
