Buckholt Bryngaer Project 2024

The Buckholt Bryngaer 2024 project aims to carry on – and develop - the work of the successful 2023 pilot. This had two principle goals. Firstly, to start the process of uncovering and preserving the Iron Age fort in the south-west corner of Buckholt wood (a scheduled monument of national significance), opening it up for long-term use by the community and paving the way for archaeological studies. Secondly, to engage the local community with the fort and trial a programme of activities for underserved groups. Both these goals were successfully achieved and we would now like to build on them (eg carry out further conservation and community focussed archaeological study) and scale up the programme of activities for underserved groups. We would also like to like to work towards protecting the environment and improving our organisation’s sustainability. We have included our means of achieving these goals in our project plan.
