Caerleon is one of the largest and best preserved Roman military sites in Europe. It has major visitor attractions, including a museum and the excavated and displayed remains of an amphitheatre, fortress baths and military barracks. The Vision for consultation (see attached document) is to develop a world class visitor experience based on research including an innovative journey of discovery. ‘Caerllion Rufeinig - Gweithio mewn Partneriaeth | Roman Caerleon - Working in Partnership’ wish to deliver a collaborative design and planning project, including a master planning exercise and series of studies, that will allow costed options for the delivery of the new Vision for Roman Caerleon. The long-term project would bring economic benefits to Caerleon and the wider region through enhanced offers and enabling learning in an inclusive and sustainable way. The ‘partnership’ currently consists of Amgueddfa Cymru, Cadw and Newport City Council, and members of the Caerleon community.
