Caring for the Art in Healthcare Collection: Ensuring it's future and continued role in supporting the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland

Our project will have heritage benefits and people benefits. We'll share more of our art collection [the heritage] in health and social care settings, for patients, residents, staff and visitors to enjoy [people benefits]. To do this we need to invest in the collection, which is in urgent need of maintenance and conservation [heritage benefits]. We will bring in specialist skills led by a Technician, supported by a Modern Apprentice, to get 300 'at risk' artworks in our store up to standard and on display in ten venues. 2026 marks our 35th anniversary, so we must secure the collection's future and maximise it's impact by working with new communities across Scotland to co-curate exhibitions and develop on-line engagement opportunities. Unique in Scotland, we want to recognise the value of the heritage to artists [who have produced works] and individuals [who have experienced it in situ, often at times of need].
