Celebrating Armadale's History: From Atlas Works to AC/DC

In May 1976, AC/DC embarked on their first ever Scottish tour with a concert at Armadale Community Education and Youth Centre. This project will celebrate our part in the history of a world-famous rock band, using it as a springboard to engage the local community in the celebration of Armadale’s rich heritage. Community participation will be a central element of the project and local people will be given an opportunity to share memories of both the concert and the area’s wider history, whilst school pupils will create engaging podcasts which will be shared on social media channels and feature in our interpretation. The project will also see the expansion of the community museum display space at Armadale with interpretation being co-produced with local people. This will lay the groundwork for West Lothian Council to submit a museums accreditation submission, securing the long-term sustainability of this important heritage display space.
