Historic Buildings
Celebrating Devon’s World-Class Heritage
Our project will raise awareness of the natural and historic heritage of the six outstanding assets in Devon designated by UNESCO as being of global significance – 2 WHSs, 1 Biosphere Reserve, 1 Geopark, 1 City of Literature and 1 Memory of the World Register entry. Drawing on the knowledge and enthusiasm of our members we will host a programme of public ‘Taster Days’ during 2025 to help people discover these sometimes misunderstood heritage assets. We will also hold three ‘flagship events’ to: celebrate Devon’s UNESCO assets; highlight Exeter Cathedral’s heritage; and address the theme of climate change and Devon’s heritage. Our project, which would be our first to be supported by NLHF, will enhance The Devonshire Association’s (DA) sustainability. We will provide social media training to our members, offer young people’s bursaries and strengthen the ongoing programmes of our Regional Branches and Specialist Sections which form the DA’s heart.
