ChichestHER: Their Story, Our Inspiration. Celebrating the Impact of Women in Chichester District’s History.

Women have so often been forgotten or overshadowed by their male counterparts, and their history has frequently been lost to the past. Our project ChichestHER: Their Story, Our Inspiration. Celebrating the Impact of Women in Chichester District aims to further knowledge and understanding about the lives and achievements of women, past and present, from Chichester District. We will begin to redress the balance of equality in the recording of the district’s past by shining a light on local women, their stories, and achievements through a headline exhibition, an extensive community engagement programme, an oral history project, and a contemporary collecting initiative. We will provide opportunities for women throughout the district to learn about and learn from some of the female leaders in their field and those that have made an impact on Chichester District as we know it today.
