Historic Buildings
Christchurch Priory seeks to secure its future as a place of worship, community and heritage by undertaking urgent conservation works and laying the groundwork for long-term transformation. This project will repair and sensitively relay the nave floor, addressing serious safety, accessibility, and conservation concerns. Alongside this, a package of specialist audits and assessments will shape the future delivery of the wider Priory Masterplan. Investigations will guide future heating and lighting upgrades, improved access to our collections, and engagement with the Priory's untold stories. We want to better understand how visitors engage with the Priory, and how to remove barriers that exclude people. This project includes business planning, stakeholder consultation, and audience research, to develop a sustainable, inclusive vision that reflects the building’s historic significance and engagement potential. Our goal is to care for the Priory’s fabric, broaden participation, and ensure Christchurch Priory continues to inspire, welcome and serve its community.
