Historic Buildings
English Heritage (EH) cares for over 420 historic sites, where the stories of England were forged and where they can be re-told. From Stonehenge to Tintagel Castle and Hadrian's Wall, we look after some of the most iconic heritage sites across the country. However, over half of the sites within our care are ‘free to enter’ for all; they represent significant historic sites often overlooked on a national scale. Community Connections: Community Grants in the North will serve to reconnect communities across the North of England with their local heritage sites; empowering them with the skills, finances and opportunities to engage with historic places on their own terms. Through dedicated community engagement, the facilitation of accessible fundraising training, and the delivery of a Community Grants pot of £150,000, we will make access to and participation in heritage more equitable for all.
