Cornerstones: Revitalising Lochwinnoch's Historic Axes

Cornerstones is a transformative heritage-led regeneration project that seeks to consolidate Lochwinnoch’s village centre as a vibrant and economically resilient destination. Focused on the heart of the Conservation Area – where the village’s 3 primary axes converge – Cornerstones will restore key historic buildings, architectural features and public realm, unlocking the social and economic potential of Lochwinnoch’s rich heritage. Using heritage as a driver for positive change, Cornerstones will simultaneously empower local people to research and explore Lochwinnoch’s history – including the village’s complex relationship with Castle Semple Estate. Working in partnership with diverse groups and organisations, Cornerstones will share findings from these collaborations with wider audiences, bringing interest, animation and new visitors to Lochwinnoch’s streets and public spaces. By restoring Lochwinnoch’s built heritage and reinterpreting its history in fresh, inclusive ways, Cornerstones aims to establish the village centre as a “must-see” destination for the thousands who visit nearby Castle Semple Loch annually.
