Historic Buildings

Creating a Platform for a Resilient Future

Jubilee Pool faces a range of pressures and risks arising from the worsening consequences of climate change; the failure of its geothermal heating system; weather dependency and ever-rising costs for pool structure repairs. The project will aid sustainability by boosting income generation and prepare for further restoration work in due course that will reduce future maintenance burdens and enhance resilience. We will: • Investigate ways of repairing and strengthening the historic fabric to reduce the risks of future storm damage and reduce the frequency of ad hoc repairs. • Remedy a public safety hazard related to the terrace surface. • Install a lightweight awning structure to allow a wider range of events and reduce weather dependency • Provide a pop-up café unit to better meet busy days demand and new signage to attract more visitors. • Free up the capacity of the Chief Executive to manage the project.
