Crofton Roman Villa, London - Interpreting a Romano-British Farm

For the first time, we’re going to tell the whole story of the only open Roman villa site in Greater London, from its origins as an Iron Age hut dwelling, to a Romano-British farmstead, and on to the building of a 20-room villa at the centre of a 500-acre estate and its decline in the last days of the Roman Empire. We will increase people’s connection with the heritage of Orpington by designing and producing a new interpretation across the Crofton Roman Villa building, telling the story of the villa, Romano-British life in Bromley, and the villa’s rediscovery in the 20th century.
