Crostwight Church: Saving and Promoting a Heritage Treasure

The project has two main aims. The first is to save a Grade I-listed, 14th century church and its nationally-important medieval wall paintings from further physical decay, so that the building can be removed from the Heritage at Risk register. This will involve rectifying structural defects and serious damp within the building, and conserving the fragile paintings. The second main aim is to enable more people to engage with this little-known heritage asset by creating digital access in the form of a website that includes a video tour of the building, and by improving the interpretation material within the building itself. The PCC wishes also to improve the natural habitat of the churchyard for wildlife, and to recruit more local volunteers to maintain this fascinating, beautiful and tranquil site for future generations.
