Donald Thomas Centre - restoring the pride in Camborne

Renovate the exterior of this imposing and majestic grade 2* listed neoclassical building and restore pride of place to the centre of the deprived post-industrial Cornish town of Camborne and bring the inside out, creating an outdoor public space to showcase community craft skills. The building had been neglected for many years and when we took it on our priority was to install green energy solutions and restore the interior, transforming it into a usable space, allowing local people access and to ensure the business was economically and environmentally sustainable. The completion of the renovation of this building will give Create CIC a building which is sustainable and fit for purpose in the long term, thus safeguarding the building, the business and the service it provides for the community, allow a wider range of people access to the facilities, help to restore pride in the town, and reduce antisocial behaviour.
