Dunfermline - A City Built on Heritage

Our project will focus on using built and natural heritage locations to celebrate and define,design, and deliver a programme of cultural engagements to promote the history and heritage of Dunfermline. Having established built and natural heritage as venues for activities which promote wellbeing, we will use this ‘canvas’ to engage the community in experiencing the cultural heritage of the City of Dunfermline.Our project will build upon the culture of successful partnerships that we have generated and sustained over the past six years. We will draw upon St. Margaret,Andrew Carnegie and Sir Patrick Geddes to be the sources of inspiration for the project. We will embed the learning legacy from Project 1(Great Places Scheme) and 2 (Wellbeing through heritage) addressing key areas of Placemaking, Environmental sustainability,Wellbeing and Civic pride.The expectation is that an increased focus on heritage will drive footfall to local sites, businesses, and events, ultimately strengthening the local economy.
