Museums And Archives
We want to reinvigorate the Trust's purpose, structure and operations, and explore the potential to move the archive into new premises to create a lively heritage centre which would ultimately become a cornerstone of community cohesion, wellbeing and the local economy. Liaison with residents/partners will help us create a Collections Development Policy to better reflect local priorities, new outreach work with the community will explore how our work could enhance people's everyday lives, and work with hospitality providers will investigate options for joint events/activities. We will understand the skills needed to take our operations to the level expected of the country's best museums, and have in place a robust Forward Plan and income generation strategy to sustain our long term development. Our plans will be shaped by a forthcoming (pre-project), high-profile Festival of Regenerative Tourism - balancing the needs of the visitor economy with those of the locals.
