Coal mining employed millions, but our Museum is now the very last surviving deep colliery in England. It is a critical time for our Museum and what is an extraordinarily important heritage. This project will give England's last miners and their families the chance to shape its future. /// With partners, we'll organise nationwide workshops, public events, a 'Coalfield Assembly' and online reflections platform. /// A major publication and creative digital commissions will record how coalfield communities understand that heritage and drive how we share stories into the future. // Engagement across communities in Yorkshire will shape how we connect and engage audiences. /// Digital interventions co-designed with England's last miners will boost the authenticity of our underground visitor experience. A new network will support heritage partners nationwide. // Our project will have a profound impact for our museum and for coal mining heritage nationally, transforming that heritage for ever.
