Historic Buildings
We will raise the profile of the hidden heritage of Stanwick Lakes by exploring the transition from Iron Age to Romano-British history on this nationally significant site. Building on the legacy of previous NLHF projects, it will interpret how people shaped and were shaped by the historic and natural landscape, creating new legacy spaces within our museum and across the site. With little visible heritage above ground, we will use our successful experimental and experiential methods to bring this period to life. Supported by dedicated volunteer teams, it will engage visitors and communities through hands-on activities, interpretation, and events that reconnect people with nature, heritage, and wellbeing. It will support the development of inclusive learning programmes and outreach opportunities for broad and diverse audiences, who through feedback have demonstrated their desire to learn more about their cultural and natural heritage ensuring it will be valued and protected for the future.
