Historic Buildings
This project will revitalise our cherished Grade II listed village hall, blending historic preservation with modern functionality. Sensitive repair, renovation, and extension will protect its character whilst adding contemporary amenities to meet today’s community needs. The upgraded hall will be more accessible, sustainable, and versatile, supporting a wider range of activities and events. The project will include a heritage engagement programme featuring interpretation panels and an accessible trail that leads visitors through key landmarks, tracing the village’s history from its Roman beginnings to its industrial heritage tied to the ironstone quarry, whose stone was used to build the village hall itself. Further events will include talks, tours and cinematic screenings at the village hall. Open to all, the programme will invite participation from groups such as rambling clubs, WI groups, local history groups and local schools, fostering a shared appreciation of the village’s rich heritage.
