Grantham Museum: A New Century

Founded in 1926, Grantham Museum is volunteer run by the Grantham Community Heritage Association (GCHA), with the community its heart. Through this project we will: Work with Lincolnshire County Council Heritage Services towards regaining the Museum’s Collection, currently in their ownership and inaccessible to the public, and equip the museum for its storage and display. Celebrate the Museum’s centenary in 2026, the 300th anniversary of the death of Sir Isaac Newton in 2027, and the industrial heritage which shaped Grantham. Work with the local college students and volunteers to deliver an oral history project, capturing memories before they are lost; and to create engaging digital displays. Create a programme manager role and commission business development, collections curation, and accessibility consultants. Develop a training programme and strengthen our volunteer base. The project’s legacy will be a resilient, inclusive and accessible museum which safeguards and engages residents and visitors with Grantham’s heritage.
