#Grow Safe Access

Working with greater ambition following Explore and Test, we want to expand and extend our work with freelancers and move towards supporting museums and heritage organisations to be safe spaces for everyone who engages with their collections and exhibitions: workforce, volunteers, partners, communities, and visitors. In the Grow phase Safe Access will: • Build a community of museums and heritage organisations embedding wellbeing-focused and trauma-informed approaches in all aspects of their working practices and programming • Develop a framework for museums to centre understanding and compassion for lived experience, creating safe spaces for marginalised communities and individuals. It will create a positive shift in working practices within the heritage sector. This builds on the Association of Independent Museums’ (AIM) Tackling Inequality Hallmark guiding museums to improve their inclusivity and relevance, and our current strategic objective to build community between museums to share best practice and develop through peer support.
