Guermonprez's Legacy - 'The Gilbert White of Bognor'

We would to produce a centenary exhibition based on Henry Leopold Foster Guermonprez held at Portsmouth Museum (100 years since his death in 1924) exploring how the data associated with his records are relevant to modern biological recording schemes, loss of habitat and climate change. The exhibition at Cumberland House Natural History Museum will display some of the 60-80,000 natural history objects, watercolours and correspondence from the Guermonprez Collection. Working with stakeholders we would develop and deliver a programme of talks and an activity programme based on natural history, including a worksheet that can be used by schools. A centenary booklet would be produced to coincide with the opening of the exhibition. Using the exhibition as a focal point we would like to conduct audience research as part of the evaluation process to explore what visitors would like to see in the museum in future display.
