Havering London intends that the two year ambitious programme, ‘Havering Unearthed’, will uncover, celebrate and promote the diverse and often hidden heritage of Havering; develop skills and capacity within the community to ensure the sustainability of heritage engagement long into the future; actively involve historically underrepresented communities and schools in heritage documentation across the borough; kickstart crucial debates about new perspectives on heritage; leave a permanent physical and digital trail of newly commissioned artefacts and storytelling; breathe vital life into key at risk heritage sites and disappearing narratives; forge fresh partnerships to connect and enhance the area’s heritage narratives; and develop new and diverse audiences for a 21st century definition of heritage in the borough. Havering Unearthed aims to create a lasting legacy by embedding heritage into the fabric of the community, ensuring that the rich and diverse stories of Havering are celebrated and preserved for generations to come.
