Hope: Learning from Nature

Hope: Learning from Nature will enable secondary school students across the North East to engage with and value their local natural heritage. Inspired by the rare books and archives in Newcastle University’s Special Collections the young people will work alongside academics, conservation and heritage professionals from the University and our partner organisations the National Trust (NT), Wallington and Northumberland National Park (NNP) to learn the importance of our natural heritage. Species, habitats, biodiversity, land management and AI will all be explored as well as the power of nature to inspire creativity and wellbeing. Their learning will be transformed into creative exhibitions of glass, willow, poetry and artwork. A Festival of Hope, hosted at Wallington, will showcase their creative exhibitions for a family and public audience. All involved will be invited to consider how we value and protect our natural heritage from climate change for future generations.
