There is a recognised need for leadership support at the mid- to senior level, made more urgent in North Staffordshire by the necessity of Heritage conservation for the post-industrial, historically valuable built fabric of the place, tightly connected to its surrounding communities. CREATE PLACE Heritage & Digital is a place-oriented leadership development initiative focussing on advancing leadership. Important terms in our approach are co-creation, co-production and co-curation (e.g. Culture 3.0) in the context of place. Thus, our cohort-based training programme, rich in peer-learning opportunities, includes relevant knowledges and skills, with digital woven through, including: co-creation and placemaking, leadership, open data, community connectivity, business model innovation, storytelling, diversity/coloniality, evaluation, greening, participatory governance, coaching, and more. It brings new content (heritage and digital) to a successfully established framework based on an ACE-funded programme (2020-2023), where we welcomed 100+ leaders onto residentials, with more than 12,666hrs of structured learning and self-directed study.
