#HP Orkney – Heritage Places - Communities and Culture - Exploratory Phase

This proposal is Orkney’s first application within a long-term partnership with the National Lottery Heritage Fund, following its selection for the National Lottery Heritage Places Strategic Initiative. The Exploratory Phase of the partnership is designed to shape a community-led heritage vision and strategy for the whole of Orkney. The two-year exploratory project will; Support the appointment of a full-time Programme Manager and a part-time Project Officer Establish a fund to aid heritage stakeholders to engage with the Heritage Places initiative; contribute to establishing a baseline, setting a future vision and strategy and initiating projects. The outlined activities will help gather the evidence and baseline information needed to inform future strategic planning. The project will also build a shared understanding of Orkney’s heritage strengths and priorities, ultimately leading to the exploration of a collective vision and long-term strategy for Orkney as a recognised Heritage Place.
