Museums And Archives
RBG set up RGHT in 2014 to manage its heritage service. Since 2018, the museum collection and archives have been located at industrial storage unit. Both organisations want to work together strategically, to provide greater public access. This is supported by the local community, 2161 signed a public petition in 2024. RBG has received a Cultural Impact Award to deliver a year-long youth heritage project. We apply to the Heritage Fund to enable us to hire a temporary project team at RGHT to: 1) engage with 24 young people from low socio-economic backgrounds to source and create archives as a project stimulus 2) to digitalise the existing archives, review/catalogue the collection The legacy will be a streamlined collection and digitalised archive service, in a new space/s. Opening Spring 2027, a Youth Heritage exhibition, curated by the young people/project team will launch the start of new fully accessible public heritage service.
