Historic Buildings
Illuminating Southwick
This is a pre-development project, aimed at protecting a heritage asset currently at risk by establishing strong foundations for long-term restoration and reuse. This project will: • Update and refine key strategic documents, including, business plan, audience development plan, governance structure, and building condition surveys, created during our 2019 Resilient Heritage grant to reflect changes in the socio-economic landscape, policy environment, and physical condition of the building. • Undertake surveys and concept design revisions in response to current condition of the site and evolving community needs. • Re-engage and broaden stakeholder participation, to ensure the future development remains rooted in local priorities and aspirations. • Prepare statutory planning and listed building applications, update expired permissions and comply with conservation and heritage standards. This prepares us for capital application aimed at preserving the site’s structural and artistic heritage, transforming it into a vibrant hub for community-connection, inclusive-education, creative-expression, enterprise-development, and wellbeing.
