Increasing Accessibility at St Mary’s

St Mary’s Tattingstone is one of only two community spaces in our village. It holds a central place in village life and without it many of the events in the church that are held would not be possible. It is an important heritage asset and place of worship for local people, having been here since the 14th Century. The biggest challenge the church faces is lack of facilities that are essential to accommodate different audiences and a diverse range of people. We are doing what we can but are struggling with the lack of these facilities, which puts people off coming and restricts who uses the building. Additionally, we have accessibility issues with the interior at different levels which causes issues for some groups to move around the building. This project will address these issues, remove barriers, and expand the use of the church and people’s engagement in local heritage.
