Museums And Archives
The Insurance Museum curates and interprets the heritage story, past, present, and future, of the national and global insurance market. Insurance underpins society, trade, industry, innovation, and individual lives; it has done for centuries. Our ultimate goal is to establish a public space that exhibits insurance heritage and engages diverse audiences. This project starts that journey. It will: 1) Identify and save insurance heritage. a. Scope existing collections, identifying those underused, hidden and at risk. b. Become a hub that connects collections with the public. c. Deposit collections in accredited archives. d. Collect insurance oral histories reflecting post-war stories of insurance. 2) Understand how to communicate insurance heritage with audiences a. Consult and research to create an audience engagement programme. b. Develop pilot programmes for schools, families and communities. 3) Build resilience for the Insurance Museum a. Create a business case for fundraising and strategy aimed at a permanent museum.
