Museums And Archives
This project will commemorate 250 years since the birth of Jane Austen, connecting new audiences with her life and work and in particular, the important connections to Dorset. Through an exhibition, workshops, school and community outputs, volunteer research projects and a public programme of events and activities, we will explore the role of Dorset within the novels, personal connections between Jane Austen and the County, as well as how this remains relevant for all of us today. The legacy of this project will be new digital content including an online exhibition on our website and new items added to the online collections database. We will also continue to provide related resources and workshops for schools, community groups and families as part of our ongoing programme. We will also develop a new partnership with Jane Austen House that will include collaborative marketing and a shared talks programme.
